The Vagin(Art) Exhibit was curated in 2020 at the student-run XYZ Art Gallery in Blacksburg, Virginia. Dr. Ocqua Gerlyn Murrell was in graduate school at Virginia Tech at the time. The art exhibit was curated with the intention of being an annual giving back event for reproductive justice organizations, but COVID-19 uprooted these plans. 80% of proceeds were donated to SisterSong WOC Reproductive Justice Collective and 20% was donated to the XYZ Art Gallery for hosting the event. Artists from Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, Arizona, Virginia, and Canada donated artwork to the exhibit. The video to the right is the opening reception of The Vagin(Art) Exhibit 2020. Dr. Murrell plans to revive the exhibit in Gainesville, FL beginning in 2024 as well as making it a mobile art gallery and bringing the exhibit to cities across the States.
